» Flamenco Barcelona
Flamenco is a national dance in Andaluzia, appeared under the influence of peoples cultures lived on the same territory - the Arabian, Jewish, Christian and Gipsy.
Flamenco unites nostalgia with lyric protest against injustice and oppression. In the Vth century about 80.000 of the Jewish lived in Spain, they were forced to obtain Christianity, in 1492 the Arabians were expatriated, and the Gipsy carried with them the traditions of singing and dancing. Their music became a hidden protest against injustice. Flamenco is the full ideology, attitude towards life, coloured with strong emotions and feelings.
Flamenco song is closely connected with ancient oriental musical tradition. Federico Garsia Lorca defined this feature figuratively and fully, he wrote: " that is the rarest and the oldest in Europe example of primeval melodies, its sounds bring us full of horror baring feelings of ancient oriental peoples".
Gades virgins dances - the dancers from Gades (modern Kadis)- were very popular in Ancient Rome. In XVII-XVIII A.D. Andaluzia chacona together with passacalia, sarabanda and other dances were spread all over Europe. And nowadays Flamenco dances are significant artistic phenomenon.
The guitar in Flamenco is the same thing as the piano in European classical music. Both in singing and in dancing in Flamenco the major performing principal by right is improvisation on the basis of the certain complex of traditionally formed melodious(falsetas) and metrorhythmic (compas) sound formulas For Flamenco guitar compositions the tokkat-masterly style is characteristic, assuming a wide use of rich potentialities of the instrument.
Flamenco, this amazing, rich and flexible word can be seen on the bills in many countries of the world: in Moscow and in Paris, in London and New-York, in Madrid and in Tokyo. Spain, really seen and presented in imagination, is impossible without Flamenco, like Paris without Nostrae-Dominae or Rome without Colosseum. But Flamenco is not a historic note, it is an ancient and forever young art of Andaluzia, one of the most beautiful daughters in Spain.
